Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! It has been a little windy mid-week, but the forecast for the weekend looks promising with the winds out of the East 10-15, so it should be doable for most. The fishing has been pretty good all week, with a little bit of everything around. The sword ledge has been pretty active this week for the guys who managed to make it out there, with some decent fish up to 150 pounds having been caught. Both ledges to the East and west have produced fish this week, so the fish appear to be pretty spread out still. The offshore report for the Mahi’s has been good as well, with a slight slow down with the North/Northeast wind, but everyone still seemed to find what they needed. A few big fish around, but not a lot. Mostly school sized fish with a handful of gaffers here and there. Fun fishing no doubt, but every day they are growing, and a lot of smaller fish coming through so this should be good for the fall bite. The humps are still packed with blackfin tunas, AJ’s, and sharks. Plenty of fish around these areas for the deep drop as well, as all of the rips are holding pretty good as this season just opened back up. The wrecks and reef this week have been good, with the mutton snappers and groupers starting to fire up. We had a couple good days of bottom fishing this week, so we are very pleased to see this. This is only going to get better as the moon approaches and these guys get ready to spawn. Like I mentioned before the Sailfish have shown back up in decent numbers as of mid-week, and to the North in Miami it has been going off. Our involvement with this will be defined by the amount of current we get in close on the reef. If we can get a good east current, those fish will come right past us, which would be great! It is just starting to get pretty good down here now, so we will see what the weekend brings. Anyway, that is it for this week, so check back next week and we will give you the skinny on what’s going on here in the middle/upper Florida Keys!
