Islamorada Swordfishing, the ULTIMATE Florida Keys Fishing Charter...
Swordfishing in the Florida Keys is absolutely amazing! Battling these true warriors of the open ocean is something that you will never forget! Swordfish are definitely one of the coolest fish we catch, and even the smaller ones can take an experienced angler for the ride of their life!
While the majority of this fishing is done during the day, we are also equipped to be able to catch them at night. This was the method we used for years before we learned how to catch them during the day. In addition, the largest of this species is generally caught during the day, and we also seem to get more bites, so this is the preferred method for us and most anglers alike. I guarantee you it is unlike anything you have ever experienced, and is definitely something that every fisherman should experience at least once!
Swordfishing in Islamorada
We are very lucky here in Islamorada to have this fantastic fishery. We are actually located right in the middle of the “freeway” for these magnificent animals migratory pattern. The best part is that they are here all year long! We generally don’t fish as many days for these guys during the winter as we do in the Summer and Fall due to rough seas brought by cold fronts in the winter. When the winds stop it is possible if the timing is right! Also, some of the best bites we have ever had have been during the winter months!
So, come on down and check out what Islamorada Swordfishing has to offer! It is absolutely Amazing!

Let the Swordfishing battle begin...
This is full contact fishing! You are in a full harness, attached to the rod in the stand up position! No chairs here! This is man against the “Prince of Darkness” (Swordfish Nickname) in a stand-up, true fishing battle! These fish can take you deep or stay on top, and the second you get cocky, they will show you why the are nicknamed the “Prince of Darkness”. They will Sound on you so fast that you will pray to get line back on the reel! It is an amazing sight to see a fish that was just jumping on the surface ! During the daytime hours, we fish in depths of 1400′ to 1900′ of water, so the tackle changes. We have specialized reels that allow the angler to fish an electric reel with hand winding capability. This allows us to make more drops, as hand winding in close to a mile of fishing line takes a while, and really cuts in to the fishing time. A lot of anglers choose to catch them on the electric, as let’s face it, reeling in a mile of line isn’t that appealing. At least not multiple times, although the ability to do so is there if this is what you choose, while bringing up the lead is much easier and faster with the electric assist.
