Hello everyone and welcome back to this week’s report! Well, the weather is here and it seems as if the weekend is going to be a little windy again. Should be around 15 or so out of the NE to east, depending on which forecast you use, but either way its doable. Should be nice for people fishing in the bay and Gulf as well with that wind, so it should be a win-win for everyone. Well, having said that lets get onto the fishing! The fishing this week has been great as we were able to win another Sailfish Tournament going 7 for 8 on Sails to win the Islamorada Poor Girls Women’s Sailfish tournament! So congrats to Team “Catchalottafish” for a second win in just under 3 weeks, and hopefully we can keep it up! The Sailfishing this week, early, really picked up and the conditions were really getting good until around 9:30 Thursday
morning when the wind turned to the west. It’s not going to stay there long, but this front is going to shut most of us down on Friday, so Saturday will be here before we really know what is going to happen. As of Thursday, there were some Wahoo, Kings, a few Sails, Tunas, a little bit of everything on the offshore scene. Humps have plenty of AJ’s and Sharks, and even a handful of nicer tunas! A few Swords caught out on the deep ledge, so all-in-all things are chewing. The bait has been good right out front of Islamorada with plenty of all the goodies from Pilchards to Ballyhoo. The wrecks and reef have been picking up toward the end of this week as the Muttons and Yellowtails really started to turn on. I am hoping it doesn’t get too cold with this front, so this won’t go the other direction this week, but we will have to wait and see I suppose. The patches this week were really good as well, as they had a slight dirtiness to them making it nearly perfect conditions for this area. These should be solid this weekend after a front, so an easy opportunity for some great table fare. Not a crazy amount to report this week, but I think the fishing is going to stay pretty good throughout the weekend. Lets just hope the rain stays away, and the skies are blue! Have a great weekend everyone, and I will see ya next week!
