Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! It has been a windy week here in the middle and upper keys, as we have been venturing out every day and have had some luck! There have definitely been some mixed reviews this week on how good that fishing has been, but we have been on the lucky side for sure! Due to the winds the Swordfish grounds had been untouched until today, as this was the only day that was barely doable offshore that far. The bite was not ver good, as out of 4 boats that went I didn’t hear of any of them even having one. The Humps have been a little vacant this week due to the weather, but the boats that made it out there today did pretty well on the Tunas and AJ’s. Amberjack season officially opened up on the 1st, so you can keep them now per your federal limit. A little closer inshore on the edge of the reef, the Sailfishing has been on the slow side, but we have managed to catch a few. We have been mostly wreck fishing this week, and the Mutton bite has been awesome! There have also been a good number of King Mackerel around the wrecks as well, so bring plenty of hooks or put on a trace of wire because you are gonna need it. The reef fishing this week has been on the tough side as the current has been into the wind and the water has been really clean. The patch reefs have been the best for Yellowtails, although they aren’t that big, the water has been dirtier inside and by playing the tides you can get lined up o the current and put some fish in the box. All in all the fishing has been fairly steady if you are choosing the best bite for the condition. The weather report for the weekend says “forget about it”…..as this front is coming through tomorrow and going to blow to 40mph over the weekend and in the 30’s through the middle of next week, so we won’t be doing much after tomorrow. Check us out next week for another full report!
Stay safe everyone!
