Back again everyone with this week’s report! What a crazy week we have had here in the upper keys! The fishing has been incredible with a bunch of different species, and it almost feels like spring fishing with so much to choose from. Everything for the most part has moved in really close this past week, Dolphin, Tunas, Sails, Wahoo, and Kings all inside of 250 feet. Even had a report of a few Blue Fin Tunas that were making way in 40 feet of water. That is a REALLY cool sight if you have never seen those guys….wow…are they big! It makes it really nice when you don’t have to run all over the place to find what you need. There have been a nice current edge in about 250 feet, and fishing the kites has been very productive. It almost seems like the fish are “running” south with this “Arctic Blast” the weather man keeps talking about, but that is just fine by me! Plenty of bait around, even with the winds we had this week, so life is really good right now, so let’s hope it stays that way. The reef has been extremely cooperative this past week, even with the cool front that just came through. Snapper fishing has been like it’s the spring spawn, without as many “Flags”, but some really respectable ones nonetheless. It appears that everything is shaping up just the way we want it to, so I couldn’t be more excited about what this winter is going to bring. We didn’t venture offshore to the humps or the Swordfishing grounds this past week, and I honestly don’t know anyone who did. It has been pretty rough down here for the most part for the past several days, but the weekend forecast looks really nice, so everyone that is wanting to get out should be able to. Judging by the 10 day forecast, it doesn’t appear that the “Arctic Blast” is going to reach us too much, so you can rest assured that I won’t be venturing too far north until this passes!
