The wreck fishing this past week has been decent with good numbers of King Mackerel, a few Wahoo, and some nice size Blackfin Tuna. Also living in these areas have been some really big sharks. The bottom dwellers have been fairly productive as well with some nice Mutton Snappers and a few nice Groupers.
On the reef, the current has been into the wind the majority of the week, and will probably continue to do so throughout the weekend. The Snappers have been biting, but it definitely takes a little finesse to keep them going. Bridling your boat to get the current behind the boat is a definite advantage, but you must make sure you are not putting yourself in danger if the waves are coming toward your transom. Luckily the wind has been quartering the current, so the angle hasn’t been too terrible. The water has been really clean, and with a lot of current making this type of fishing not so favorable for the novice.
