Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! My apologies for no report on this site last week as I was experiencing some technical issues, but I was able to post on Florida Sportsman and The Online Fisherman so hopefully you saw it there. If you didn’t, you didn’t miss anything as no one was able to fish until very late in the week when the wind finally subsided. It has been blowing down here something awful for the past 2 weeks making it basically dangerous to go fishing. The winds have blown as high as 35 mph, and at that point…well…its pointless. We finally made it out last Wednesday and it was still really rough. However, we did manage to catch some Sails and really nice bottom fish so it didn’t feel as bad once we made it back to the dock! We have fished every day since, and the fishing has been pretty good. The Sailfishing has been sporadic, but only once did we not manage to catch one. We really need a cold front to come through here and really kick things off, so I am anxiously awaiting that to happen. There are fish starting to show up in good numbers to the North of us, so it won’t be long. Things are on schedule as in past years, so it is going to be in full swing anytime now. The offshore bite, for the few who have braved it out to get out there has been slow. The Tunas have already started to leave the humps, at least in numbers, and the Dolphin fishing has slowed down drastically. This is what we expect as we make the transition into winter. The Kings and Wahoo are starting to show up now, as well as a few Sails, and the bottom bite is getting better. The patches are starting to load up with Snappers and Groupers, while the winter migration is underway so it is shaping up just like it should. Things are coming together, we just need this weather to cooperate a bit and all will fall into place. Plenty of fish being caught still, so it’s only going to get better. There is plenty of bait around, and probably as much as I have ever seen here, so it should be a great winter. Please give me a call and get your trip in the book as we are filling up quickly. Looking forward to seeing all of you soon!
