Hello everyone, and welcome back to this week’s report! A pretty good week down here in the middle/upper keys this past week with an incredible bottom bite. There has been dirtier water out front with a little east current making for really good reef and bottom fishing conditions. The Snappers and Groupers, as well as Kings and Cero’s have been aggressive to say the least, making for some pretty impressive fishing. The variety on the reef is ridiculous with ton’s of action for the entire family, not to mention some of the best table fare there is! The Sail bite has been slow at best, with only a few glimmers of hope, but we finally have a good cold front coming through Friday night so things just might get a bit interesting before we know it. The weather is supposed to get seriously snotty this weekend with winds forecast around 30 mph making for some not so pleasant conditions. The good news is that we have plenty of places to hide in the bay that has some incredible fishing this time of year. Good numbers of Spanish Mackerel, Mangrove Snappers, Goliath Groupers, sharks, and even a few Cobia and King Mackerel from time to time close in less than 12 feet of water. It is really nice that we can turn a day of what seems to be misery into a great experience by just going to the other side of the street! We are truly blessed to have this kind of versatility, as it is action packed and you can still catch some really big fish on light tackle. Lots of opportunity with the fly rod back there as well with the sharks and mackerel, so there is plenty to do for everyone. I have a feeling with the forecast old man winter has in store for us over the weekend, this is where you will find me! Merry Christmas everyone!
